Corner View: Light

I have always admired the geode stone. I love how sunlight hits the crystal within and how it shines against the light or giving a bit of light as I look deep inside the stone to admire the beauty. The beauty within is waiting to be discovered, each stone different, but so similar.

I met a social worker years ago, on one of my CASA (court appointed special advocate for abuse and neglected children) cases. She would give a stone to her clients, when they graduated from rehab. I have since shared her idea with some of my CASA kids and friends going through trial times, because if you hold a geode stone between your hands it sort of represents us.

The outside of the stones are scarred and traumatized, some more than others, just like life’s experiences, yet we all have a shell that protects the beauty from within. Inside each stone holds the beautiful crystals representing us, our gifts, our light, our potential and our possibilities and all are beautiful, “God only makes wonderful things”. What better light to shine than the one from within.

To see more light, visit Francesca’s  corner

May your light shine bright today!
Hugs,
Joyce

This is a wonderful idea - and the stone very nicely. When the sun breaks in it, that must be fantastic.

Joyce,
how wonderful the light is in your corner. My world is much brighter for having you and I do hope this year to come visit so we can have another chance to meet and have a fun journey collecting rocks and sharing stories.

To answer your question, no I do not tweet but I do have an account, I just felt like it was something suffocating and not really me but I do know lots of others who love it. I need my hands free for the brushes and paint. How I added pinterest, well I am a visual person so that made perfect sense and it does provide a wonderful world of inspiration as do my blogging buddies - faithful companions.

I used to go to camp at Green Lake in Wisconsin. They had a bunch of those stones on display - behind a big picture window. You could push a button and black lights would shine on those stones and they'd turn all kinds of cool colors - the way I image the Northern Lights. It always took my breath away.

What a great tradition! And CASA does really good work. My ex-husband used to work with a lot of CASA workers and couldn't say enough good things about their dedication and hard work.

All the more reason not to let outer appearances distract us from the beauty within. Beautifully written.

Beautiful post and so lovely to take something in the material world and attach this intangible concept of love and kindness and (ultimately) light to it.

Children especially relate to that.
