Corner View: Box Of Tricks

This week's topic it to share a box of tricks.

I don't have a box or tricks, but a box full of treasures. This box sits at my bedside and is full of family and friend's names that need an extra prayer or two.

This one could be consider a box, right? It is made and filled with things of the past from my friend Catherine.

Hmmm... maybe some of these odds and ends were once used for a box of tricks by someone.
Stop at Francesca's  corner to see what others have for a box of tricks. Thank you Mlle Paradis  for this week's topic!

Have a golden day!

A Bit Of Green In The Garden

A quiet Monday, so I thought I would share some photos of the garden.

My first try at planting potatoes.

They are growing tall, thanks to all the rain we have had. I'm curious what is happening under the ground.

Have a golden day!

Things In Three

Gary has been out of town this week on business, so as a small welcome home gift I picked up these dizzy and crazy mini eclairs.

I just realized my day also will come in 3's, breakfast with friends, lunch in the driveway with my gal pals and tonight dinner with my Gary.
Hmmm... I think I need to hit the gym 3 times this weekend!!

Have a golden weekend!

Corner View: On My Wall

How many hours do you have to see all the things on my wall? Just kidding. I enjoy art, so there is art on my walls

This watercolor I have admired on my friend Gregg's wall for years and last year he surprised me with it for my wall.

I also have a bit of "yesterday" on my walls. The baptismal dress was originally made for my mom by her grandmother. My sisters, nieces and I have also worn the dress for our baptismal.

This isn't my wall, but a wall of a church not far from me, but had to share. When I first saw this huge stone wall, it immediately made me smile. There was a sense of peace and hopefulness when I saw this wall. I love how all the letters and prayers are tucked in between the rocks.

Thank you my friends for your prayers, your comments, texts and emails on my friend Catherine. Her surgery went as well as could be expected, without any complications. Her friends will continue to carry her in their prayers and walk by her side, as she begins her chemo treatments in the next couple of weeks.

Would you like to see what our corner view friends have on their walls, visit Francesca's corner? Thank you Elsa for this week's topic.  Oops one more thing I have had a full plate and haven't been able to visit your blogs, but will try my darnest to make a visit today.

Have a golden day!

Faith

As my dear friend Catherine has surgery today, I will sit quietly praying that all will be well. On April 13th Catherine was diagnosed with an aggressive stage IV cancer. The past couple of months have been a roller coaster, as the months ahead will be.

As I have mentioned before, I am so bless with my special circle of friends. They except me, for me, ask for nothing in return, their words of encouragement are always for my best interest, so when one of my friends are struggling as Catherine, my heart fills with tears and sadness. In these moments when I feel weak and helpless, I have to stay strong in my faith, pray, and believe.
Catherine has touched many with her rays of sunshine, I hope she feels all of the love and support surrounding her during this struggling times. I hesitated to put this post up today, but I consider you my friends too. I felt if I could broaden the prayer chain it would surround her with more strength, so if you would please keep her in your thoughts and prayers I would greatly appreciate it.

Warm hugs my friends.

The Weekend Ahead

This little container has already been growing nicely and spilling over. My friend, Catherine would be so proud of me in the container department, I have packed them good this year. She is an avid gardener. Remember, here when she planted my butterfly garden last year? (By the way is growing beautifully.)

However, she wouldn't be happy with all the weeds that are taking over the rest of the garden.

I could give all the excuses; it is raining, it is too hot, those pesty mosquitoes are making me do the bug dance, but I hear her little voice saying, Joycee...

So, I hope to at least get in the garden for a few hours and weed. While I'm out there swooshing away the pesty mosquitoes, wiping the dew from my forehead, I will be thinking of the prize not only a weedless garden, but the wine and photography class I will be attending on Saturday night.

My sweet friends, have a golden weekend!
Hugs,

Corner View: Destination

The cards and letters in this photo have come from all corners of the world, filled with love, hope and prayers.

They were headed to one destination, tied with a pretty ribbon and hand delivered  to one sweet friend of mine.

To see more destinations, visit Francesca's blog. Thanks Kelleyn for a great topic.
Have a golden day my friends!

Come On In

Oops, I'm a little late posting today. I overslept this morning!  I sat here trying to think what to post, so I thought I would share the "famous" small office that took me forever to paint.

The color is not much different then before. The original color was a pale green and now it is a light taupe.
A couple of my favorite pieces of this little corner is the art. The one above is a print made by my dear friend Catherine (Grunewald). I love this piece because I love angels and as you know dogs. It is hard to see, but near the printed words, "forever friend I will stay to guard you each and everyday" she sketched  a stick figure of me with at the time our two dogs, Buddy and Kelly.
Another favorite print is by Jeanne Oliver. If you can't read the quote it says, "She took a deep breath and decided it was time to be brave and listen to the whispers of her heart". Jeanne has several quotes I really liked, so it was hard to just pick one.
I should back up, the reason I painted my little corner is because our good friend Steve put in a bigger door for me that leads into a storage area off my office. Now I don't have to get down on my knees and crawl into the space. I can be upright and open the door! This allowed me to take most of my cookbooks and the file cabinets into the storage area and make room for more cookbooks in my office.
I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but I added plain Kraft paper to the top of the desk and had a piece of plexiglass made to fit it perfectly.
This way I can I see some of my special things daily and rotate to see more of my favorite things. I hope you enjoyed the visit. I like using vintage flower frogs to hold our pencils, pens and scissors.

Have a golden day my friends!
Hugs,
Joyce

Happy Friday: A Bit Of Blue, Truckin And Walking

A peek into some of the corners of my garden

This is one of my new favorite flowers, the Salvia. It not only attracts the butterflies, but the hummingbirds. My friend Catherine turned me onto this flower last year and I LOVE it!!

The leaves on this little flower is almost black and then it blooms into the most blue purple flower.

Love these kind of mushrooms. Oops, I better get out there and weed or as they say in the restaurant kitchens, I will be "in the weeds"!

This vintage little truck was from my friend Gayle's garage sale. It was her husband's truck when he is was little. I knew when I saw it I had the perfect place for it.

Have a golden weekend, my friends!
Hugs,
Joyce
