Look Who Is Wearing A Party Hat...

and he isn't happy!

Mr. Bojangles had to make an early visit to the vet this week, to have his bandage changed and to have a peek at his stitches. He came home wearing his party hat cone, just in time to start the celebrations!

Yes, it is that time of year, as Gary calls it the fiesta week. Well, my birthday isn't until Monday, but I already started the celebration on Wednesday. Tonight we are getting together with my family and Sunday with Gary's mom. I love, love my birthday! It isn't about gifts, it is about celebrating my day (and my sweet little friend Liam's day) and a birthday cake! This birthday HERE, I had five different cakes!!

Wishing you a weekend of good times, celebration and a golden one!

Corner View: Blue

This week's corner view theme is blue.  Blue happens to be one of my favorite colors, but realized I don't have a lot of blue inside our home.
I have a hint of blue in my Etsy shop

A touch of blue in the garden (last year's photos)
and a splash of blue here

and some blue in our refrigerator!

To see more blue, visit Theresa's blog. Hmmm... by the look of my photos, do you think I have Spring on my mind?

Have a golden day my friends!

Out To Lunch Today

This weekend was quiet, relaxing, sunny and rainy… A perfect way to head into a busy and crazy week. I need to put my "out to lunch" sign for today, but not before I share one of my favorite sandwiches.

It is simple and easy. A whole wheat tortilla, spread with hummus, slices of cucumber, tomatoes and some watercress. I sometimes add avacado.

I hope your week is off to a good start.
Have a golden day my friends!

Ouch...

Yesterday Mr. Bojangles had surgery to remove a cyst on his leg. He came home and is eating up all the attention he is getting.

Looks like it will be a quiet weekend for us, while Bo heals and continues to get TLC. I don't mind, I'm just happy he is OK. It might be the perfect time to paint our bedroom.
Have a golden weekend my friends!
Hugs,
Joyce

Corner View: Valentine's Day

This week's theme is Valentine's Day.  Gary and I normally celebrate the day with exchanges of cards or letters and a quiet dinner at home.
This year we celebrated with a surprise dinner with friends at our favorite local restaurant. All the guys managed to keep a secret from their wives. We all showed up at the restaurant and were excited to see one another and share the love. Gary and I exchanged small gifts this year too (this is for another post). Even though this holiday comes once a year I like to think Valentine's Day is everyday!

To see more of how Valentine's is celebrated visited Theresa's blog.

Have a golden day my friends!

A Bouquet Of Colorful Roses Just For You!

The other day, I was at my friend's flower shop when I saw these colorful roses. I couldn't believe all the colors just one rose could hold.
I also thought they were the perfect way to wish you a colorful weekend!

Corner View: Favorite Actor

Hi, this week's corner view topic is favorite actor. One of my all time favorites is Doris Day.  As a child and still today, I can watch her movies over and over again.

One of my favorite movies of hers is, Please Don't Eat the Daisies. In the movie she has a house full of children and a dog, that are so out of control and wild, it makes me smile as I type of all the trouble they got into. She also can sing, another thing I admired about her, since I can't carry a tune.

We both share the love of animals AND Doris happens to live in one of my favorite places Carmel, California. I use to travel to Carmel during my airport days and would imagine bumping into her on the streets. Hey a girl can dream, right?!

To visit more favorite actors of our corner view friends, stop by Theresa's

In The Moment

We had a wonderful weekend. It started with Gary coming home on Friday. Not sure who was more excited to see him Riley, Bo or me. By the way all 40+ pounds of Bo jumped into Gary's lap I would say he was very happy! We took a nice walk in the forest preserves.
Yesterday we celebrated super bowl with some friends. It was a grand celebration since most of us were Green Bay Packers fans.

I hope your week starts off as a golden one.
Hugs,

When You Need A Friend ...

I haven't ventured out since the big blizzard to see what is happening around me, but I have managed to get a few photos around the yard.
The photo above is the little path I tried to keep open all night for Bo and Riley. But Bo was not going to hear of it, so he tried to go AWOL! Do you see below, that fur ball in the snow? Have you tried to get a crazy 40+ pound dog out of the snow, without falling in the snow yourself?!

Thank goodness for friends, or I would be stuck indoors till Spring. The snow was up to our front doorknob. I should have taken a photo of it, but I kind of freaked a bit when I opened the door, that I immediately shut it. Even the nice little space I was trying to keep clean for the dogs got a bit lost in the night and was creeping up the patio door. I also hear the same was for the garage door. I happened to have my cellphone on me, just in case I need it before help came, as I attempted to shovel (shhh... don't tell Gary about the shoveling).
The photo above I snapped with my phone. It doesn't show just how steep our driveway is, but trust me, ask any of our friends that have been to our home. These guys were sliding and trying to keep their balance, as they were shoveling and snow blowing. Our friend Steve couldn't even get his truck up to plow, because of all the snow, ice and the slant of the driveway. When I sent out a SOS to my friend Gayle around the corner, (she said, she knew I needed help because I never ask for it) she immediately sent over her men to lend a hand.
After being in the house for three days, poor Mr. Bojangles is bored out of his mind. Lucky for Bo, the day after was cold, but beautiful.

He has kept me busy with bringing all that snow in the house.

And driving poor Riley crazy, wanting to play

He even managed to make his own version of a snowman!
Gary never made it home last night, due to a cancelled flight, but I have a feeling, he will be busy with Bo this weekend and paying back a lot of favors.

Thanks, Paula and Gayle for sending your guys over to help a friend in need.

Have a golden weekend my friends!
Hugs,
Joyce

Corner View: Evening Sky

I was hoping to get a recent evening sky view last night, but with the major blizzard (National Weather Service called life-threatening) stumbled into my corner all I have is this one. It isn't pretty and no I wasn't dipping into the sauce, causing the blur vision. It was the snow blowing and the sky is somewhere in the background!
OK I couldn't leave you with this photo, so here are a couple evening skies of yesterday.
Enjoy the view!
To visit more evening skies visit Theresa's corner  corner.  Thank you Wanderchow for this week's topic!

Have a golden day my friends!
