Today...

is the day that will make things all better.

This photo is one of many (just ask Gregg, Lisa and Kris), I took a few weeks ago of the new wing of the hospital. I hope I get the pleasure to enjoy one of the new rooms.
Have a golden day!

Before I Take A Break...

from my little blog

(Thanks Lisa for helping with the "break" idea)
for my "spa" time. I am trying to make light of my hospital visit and will have my friend Tracy airbrush a tattoo, something fun to surprise my doctors.

I thought I would share with you a view of a little more of what my friend Catherine

has done in my little butterfly garden. Remember this corner
HERE ?

She also had this little area go from this...

to this!

In just the week since she planted the flowers have started to grow.

I have more to show of our garden, but will share more when I get home. I also found some great treasures to share too from my friends, Kris, Lisa and Gregg's store, The Backdrop for the garden. My gal pals Tracy and Gayle have offered to water the garden incase we get a warm spell. I'm hoping by then things will have spread and blossom.

Catherine thank you so much! This little butterfly garden has so much meaning to me and will be such comfort while I recuperate sitting in my garden.

Forgive me for not being able to visit your blogs as much as I would love to, but soon I should have time to do so.

In the meantime time my friends, be safe, enjoy, dance and make the moment a golden one!

Many hugs,
Joyce

Peace, it does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

Mr. "Bo"jangles Update

Bo has acquired a few fans, asking for his update on how he is doing. In dog years the vet estimated him to be 10 months old, in human years he is acting like a teenager. We have been working with him on a couple of commands.
He LOVES to play, play and play. Everything is a game for him even his commands! Did I mention he loves to play?!
He also loves to hide things out back, including himself! Can you see him?

Gary has been gone on business trip and Bo has missed him. When we dropped Gary off at the airport he kept looking out the back window until he couldn't see him anymore.

Our first night without Gary was a bit challenging. He has a nice bed in our room, but wouldn't sleep in it and kept his eye on the bedroom door, crying, so we both slept downstairs on and off.

Bo loves the color of yellow. During one of our many visits to the pet store he has picked out a yellow toy every time. Has chewed through 3 leashes. 3 toys and currently working on him being in his kennel. He has worked up to being fine in his kennel if we are within bird's eye view, but if we leave- oh dear!! Again today I will leave for a bit longer to see what happens. I don't think it is uncommon for rescues to be a little clingy, but since this is our first foster we are learning things too.

Once he is off his antibiotics, he will be making another visit to the vet to have his little manly surgery.

I don't know yet for sure where Bo's home will be- if it will be with us or with a family, but I do know he is and will be a very special dog with a big heart. I'll share a little story, I have shared with a few others of this little guy's heart. I was missing Kelly the other day and a few tears escaped a moment later this little fella got up from his comfy spot to lay his head on my knee.
If you look closely you can almost see the twinkle in his eye! I will keep you posted of Bo's journey with us.

Have a golden day my friends!
Hugs

Corner View: Fountains and Statues

I like how the last few corner view topics have linked from one to another tying them all neatly together.
This will be my last week of blog sitting. Thank you for your wonderful suggestions and helping me watch over corner view while Jane was gone. I couldn't have done it without all of you!!
To help Jane ease back into things, next week's theme will be collections by Francesca.
In our little town we don't have a famous fountain, as the one in Brussels
(The candy came from Jane for Gary- he has a thing for this little fountain)
The closest thing to a fountain within walking distance, is this little rustic guy in the forest preserves
or this non-working one in our backyard
but if the birds splash in the birdbath in our garden I can pretend it is a fountain, right?
I saw this statue while I was shopping for plants a couple of weeks ago and thought it was so cool. He looks almost as if he is making a wish or asking for silence in the garden.

I bet you if you visit our corner view friends you just might find a wishing or youth fountain.
Have a golden day my friends!
Hugs,
Joyce

Happy Friday: Our House Guest

Next week's corner theme is statues and fountains by Jodi and Yonder. Thank you everyone for all of your great suggestions. I have a little list going for when our gal pal Jane comes back.
Have you heard the song "Mr. Bojangles"? It is a song written by Jerry Jeff Walker in 1968. The lyrics are here. This is the name that came to mind when I first saw this adorable face.
Meet Mr. Bojangles, a.k.a "Bo" for short. He was found as a stray and was to be euthanized on Tuesday if he wasn't rescued that afternoon. My good friend Tracy works with a local rescue group, that went to get Bo, but he needed a foster home. When Gary saw the photo of Bo, his response was; What does it take to be a foster home? We can't let a good dog be put down just because he doesn't have a home. As soon as I made the call, a few hours later Bo was in our driveway with another dog to go to our neighbor's (Mookie's foster home) home to be fostered.
Bo went to the vet the following day and was guessed to be about 10 months old, with a slight respiratory infection. He weighs 35 pounds and is part Airedale, not sure of the other half of him, but a true terrier for sure. Once he is off the antibiotics he will be neuter. He has already learned a couple of commands and has buried a bone out back, claimed it and reburied it in another spot.
Doesn't his eyes seem to hold a story? I'm not sure where Bo's home will be, but for now he is safe. Our weekend will be to continue working with Bo and celebrate Mother's Day with our moms. What are your plans for the weekend?

Have a golden weekend my friends!
Hugs,
Joyce

Corner View: Gardens

This week's corner view topic is gardens and perfect timing since I have been busy out back the last couple of weeks. Well... I should say my friend Catherine has been a busy beaver. She created my little butterfly garden that I have tried to do on my own for the last couple of years.
She started with these colorful impatiens flowers in one corner of the garden, because butterflies love color and we are surrounded by shade from all the trees.

Off to
Pesche's Garden and Greenhouse we went to load up our cars
with flowers and plants to bring in all the butterflies, birds and bees.
This little corner was the only place we could grow grass
I thought it was only for a moment I turned away, but when I turned around

this is what I saw!

A corner filled with color so bright it would make your heart dance. A few days later Gayle, another special friend came by and quietly spread out the mulch. I read somewhere the flower symbolism associated with impatiens is motherly love. How perfect with Mother's Day around the corner.
I have more to share of my garden, but wanted to give you a peek of my colorful confetti corner I see when I'm visiting your blogs or working on my laptop. I also have some fun garden treasures I picked up while out visiting my wonderful friends at The Backdrop too.
All this planting has begun so when I am back from my spa getaway(hospital) as I like to call it. I will be able to set out back and enjoy the view and feel as one with nature during my recovery. I'll share a bit more on this in another post along with other views of my garden.
For now, would you like to take a quiet walk with me as I visit our corner view friend's gardens? List of cv friends is located on the right.
Does anyone have a theme for next week? Don't be shy either leave your ideas in comments or send me an email. I will post the next topic on Friday.
Have a golden day!
Hugs,
Joyce

Soon There Will Be Pies And Jam

With the last rain we had, the strawberries and rhubarb plants are growing big and strong.

I can't wait to make a batch of strawberry jam and one of my all time favorite, rhubarb custard pie

Until then I will admire the flowers and daydream

Have a golden day my friends!
