With this all said in a nutshell and my first week watching Jane's baby "corner view", I'm not prepared. Would you believe if I told you the dog ate my homework? OK maybe a dog didn't eat my homework, but one did managed to take up my time last night.
Last night Gary and I were coming home from a walk at my favorite place, the forest preserves. We were talking about how many deer there are this year, when all of a sudden he says there is an animal walking up our driveway. As we got closer he said it is a dog in our yard. I immediately jumped out as he was driving up the driveway. If you know my driveway I'm lucky I didn't roll down the driveway. Sure enough in the corner of our side yard was a little pup!
We were able to corner her and open the back gate to get her to a safe spot. We sat out back waiting for her to calm down. She was so scared running in the back trying to find a way out. Lucky we still have some treats left over from Kelly. This little girl is so sweet. We brought her inside to give her water and noticed she had a tag and was micro chipped and also recently spayed. I called the number on her tag and found out her name is Mookie and she was from a rescue group called Almost Home Foundation. Leaving a voicemail and with a quick return call back we found out a neighbor down the street is fostering Mookie. When her foster dad opened the door, she decided to explore the neighborhood.

As I am writing I realized Mookie DID actually help me with my post today. Isn't fostering a dog/cat or taking one in our home as a pet is our way of helping a dog/cat of our planet?

In case some are wondering, no we didn't keep Mookie, but very tempting. I will be out of commission for the next couple of months and it is too soon for us after losing Kelly. All this wouldn't be fair to her. I believe in my heart she will find the perfect home. I have a feeling she is just taking a short detour as I feel most rescue animals do until they are safely home.
In Mookie's honor and my appreciation for her help in this post. I am doing a give-a-way! I will make a donation to her rescue group and this organic basil plant in a bamboo pot, from Potting Shed Creations for you. Not only will you watch your plant grow, but you can add it to a favorite recipe. The company is in a recycled school, they use products that are good for our earth and they have their employee's dogs walking the halls. Now how cool is that?!
All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, so I know you were here. I will draw the lucky name on Sunday.
Stop on over and visit our corner friends to see some of their great ideas to lend a hand. List is on the side bar.
Have a golden day my friends!
Hugs,
Joyce

P.S. If anyone has any ideas for next week's corner view let me know otherwise I will post a topic on Friday.

Happy Earth Day to you, Joyce. I am a strong supporter of pet adoptions. There are so many wonderful ones out there, and they need homes that are loving and kind.
Wow, Joyce, your CV adventures get more and more amazing. Good luck with finding a home for Mookie. Have you seen the movie Hachi? I just watched it, a beautiful love story about how a dog finds a home...(with Richard Gere:).
All the best wishes to you, Happy Earth Day!
xo
Glad you got a chance to spend some time with Mookie. I feel sometimes that when you have these visitors after a loss, it's particularly meant to be. Sometimes I think loved ones are coming to say goodbye.
Don't tell anyone else I said that to you. They'll think I'm nuts! Happy Earth Day!
Mookie must have known that there were good treats at your place, along with some really good humans!
How did you know that this human loves basil! Thanks for the kindness you share not only with creatures, but with each of us too. I hope Mookie will pay you and your camera a visit again soon.

beautiful quote! thanks
Dear Joyce, yours is the first CV I see this morning. It will warm my heart for the rest of the day!.
You are a kind person, and Mookie knew that!
Every time I take a coffee, I'll pretend we drink it together! (I must warn you that I am a coffee adict!)lol
Happy Earth Day, my friend!
Lovely story. WOW.
Thanks for making me smile. A big hug.
Have a nice Earth Day!
see you around.
Mookie looks like a very sweet dog. Now, how did she know to come to the home of a very sweet and generous person? Hmmm...I wonder. I think the word is out on the street, your house is THE house.
Wishing you a great day!
And P.S. I love basil!
hello joyce!
thnx for hosting the cv
i love the theme you picked
am so looking forward to visit everybodys earth-day post!
You are an Angel Joyce. Lucky that Mookie found you to help out.
I remember with fondness the very first Earth Day- and with so much going on this week, I will post my Corner View tomorrow. Thank you for sharing so much of your beautiful world with us Joyce.
lovely cv and Eartday to you Joyce.

Hello! My Corner View for the earth is posted. Beautiful day!
What a cute puppy! She must have known you needed something to photograph for Corner View this week. Happy Earth Day!
Thanks on the tip for my allergies! Yes, you would need to be careful to only spray it on your weeds. If you are concerned. I heard trying just adding boiling water first.
A beautiful story, Joyce! Love the puppy. We lost our family pet last July, and it took me until now to be open to a new puppy. They have special places in our heart. Thanks for hosting today.
aww, very sweet! And she's cute, too. :)
I did wonder whether you ended up keeping the little pup, but it's good that you had her for the one evening. I love the basil growing in the bamboo pot! About next CV's theme, no ideas from my end, I'm really the least imaginative person when it comes to this sort of things, I'm sorry!
PS the Native American Proverb is beautiful.
Have a nice Earth Day Joyce! Thanks for your nice and sweet CV.
Hope Mookie will find a nice home!
Greets Barbara (newbie in CV-land)
Hope she'll have a bright future on our Earth! Happy day:)
happy earth day Joyce, I know that Mookie will be just fine!!!
What an adventure!
and what a lovely giveaway! Homemadpesto is the best!
maybe pets/local animals for nextweek's theme ;-)
I so enjoyed your cv, and seeing that cute Mookie, Happy Earth Day...and basil is my fave!
Happy Earth Day :)
What an adorable pup you ran into. When I get a dog, I've decided to adopt from the local animal shelter. And I agree with you, what better way to help out a dog/cat on our planet than by fostering or taking care of one on our own.
What a sweet post - I really enjoyed this one.
happy earth day dear joyce
thanks
Joyce, what an adventure Mookie had. She couldn't have found more loving rescuers if she tried!
Nicola
ps. I only replied to you on my blog last week...my grandma lives in a small town outside Peoria.
Just dropping in to say: Hope you have an awesome week!
Blessings, andrea
Happy Earth Day !! I understand you not being ready for a pup but boy oh boy what a cutie!
Happy ED Joyce. Well done on taking care of Corner View this week. What a lovely dog Mookie looks. Enjoy the rest of your day.
Happy Earth Day, Joyce! And what a sweet little puppy. I wish I could take her home! And you're an angel to take care of her.
I'm actually up and posted before midnight. It's an earth day miracle. LOL
I like the proverb you ended your post with today. Opening our eyes to care for the uncared for animals in our society definitely counts as helping the earth and seems a fitting way to celebrate Earth Day. Did you know you can register to be the home for a retired service dog? These dogs are put to sleep if homes are not found for them. They are well trained and obedient. If someone cannot consider adopting a dog from a shelter, this might be the answer for them. Unless, of course, they live in an apartment like me. :)
First, I am so sorry to hear that you lost Kelly. I have missed that.
Mookie looks like a sweetheart and I am sure she will find a great home soon. And yes, adopting animals are such a great thing to do.
a proverb to not forget...
Helo Joyce, it is from guyana, South Americ that I have posted my CV. Thank you for the wuote it is just so true...the smell of your basil has been floating around for some time now....
awwwww....love mookie and am so glad that she found you for a little bit! I'm sure there is happiness in her future:)
we have a golden retriever that we rescued about 5 years ago n ad she has been the most wonderful companion.......
happy earth day!
xo
i hope you will be ok (out of commission for the next couple of months) and think mookie will be just fine. that sweet face is hard to resist and no surprise she wandered into your yard. the plant is very nice, i love the pot. thank you for the nice giveaway! xo, c
I hope Mookie finds a good home - maybe you'll have a change of heart? I fostered some kittens 10 years ago and they are still here - they are part of the family now ;^) So hard to let go, and I am glad for it now ... xo
So nice that you took the time to help the pup. There are so many dogs in need of homes. I'm sure she will find her "forever home". Two of our three dogs are rescues and they are the most wonderful girls.
Happy Almost Earth Day!
Mookie was so lucky and she certainly picked the right driveway to explore!!! What a sweet little pup!! I know she will find a good home, her eyes tell a story, don't they? I am so thankful for families who will foster someone's hopeful future friend. You warmed my heart today, Joyce. xoxo
Little Mookie found the right place to come for help! You are an angel.
Happy Earth Day, Joyce.
xo ~ Dana
What a cutie!!! Our one (and only) family dog was also a rescue dog-she was such a sweetheart!!
Happy Earth Day, Joyce!
Aw Mookie is adorable! Happy Earth Day Joyce :) Oh and I love basil.
Thanks... have a great week Joyce
Mookie is SO cute. I hope she finds a good home. Maybe next week's topic could be animals. That would be a good topic. There are so many different things to talk about with animals. Comment on my earth day post to let me know if you want to use that topic.
Ohhhh Mookie, such a sweet face! I would love to help her, but I just know she will be o.k. I wonder if the foster parents can keep (or want) her? Precious little thing.
Happy Earth Day Joyce, and have a wonderful weekend!
XOXO
Happy Earth Day!
my eldest daughter has been very interested in the soi (street) dogs here in Thailand. There are many here that need homes.
I love the bamboo pot.
Happy Earth Day!

Sorry I'm a bit late... but it's still Earth day! Great post and give away idea, Thanks!
Happy Earth day. It was so nice visiting with you and Mookie the cutie.
Oh, I love this post! We fostered dogs for three years before having a toddler in the house, and we adopt all of our pets. It IS a worthy cause.
What a cutie! I would have had a hard time resisting, too.
Happy Earth Day!
Beautiful and so sensitive !
What an amazing post, Joyce! She is a love and will find a beautiful home. I love next week's theme, too. I hope your weekend is so happy!
Hi Joyce,
Don't you think Mookie looks just like my dog, Tiger?
