Corner View: Cityscapes

The theme for this week's Corner View is cityscapes. Hmmm… I think now would be a good time to let you know my plan was to make a trip into the city this weekend, but I was having too much fun in my own backyard. Wait! Didn’t I make a confession on not knowing how to make a pot of coffee last week? Oh no… I hope “corner view” does not turn into confession Wednesday for me.

OK so instead of a wonderful night view of Chicago (nearest city)…

I have a raining night of Wauconda’s downtown cityscape
Monday during our parade I realized if I sat on the ground and looked up, some buildings seemed much taller, and reminded me of downtown Chicago.

Yesterday my intentions once again was to catch a 1.5 hour train ride to the city, but I decided to go here instead.

the view from the parking garage
I did manage to have my camera with me and took photos some photos from the 6th floor of an empty parking garage only to have security come by to see what I was doing.

I accidentally snapped this photo of a tall building next to the parking garage right when the security car came up to me. The things I do for this little blog of mine!

If you want to see some breathe taking cityscape views, take a peak at our "corner view" friends around the world.

Happy Friday: A Little Pampering…

... to kick off the long weekend ahead! Monday I had a special treat, a pedicure on the beach!

Don’t you love surprises?

My two favorite places in town, Lindy’s Landing and Vickie’s Personal Touch put their feet together and came up with a pedicure on the beach at the last minute.

We picked our favorite beach color

sat back and relaxed

While Brittany (Lindy’s Landing) gave us our first cocktail, and be pampered by Vickie’s girls.

Had a little dinner

... and dessert

enjoyed the view

Come this weekend every boat slip will be filled.

My dear friends whatever your plans will be, please be safe and enjoy the holiday weekend.

Corner View: Coffee In My Corner

This week’s topic is coffee, but before I go any further on this post you might want to hug your coffee pot and have a seat.
If you have been following me, you know I love a good party, love to cook, bake and entertain, but… Are you sitting yet? OK here it goes… I do not know how to make a good pot of coffee. Yes you are reading this correctly repeat I don’t know how to make a good pot of coffee!

I purchased this little guy a few years ago and have yet to use it. If you look close you might even see some dusty bunnies dancing on the top.

Hmmm… maybe because it is my luxury gift to moi to treat myself to a good cup of latte (skim please) every so often, sit and chat with a friend laughing over silly things.

Therefore I have no fancy espresso/ cappuccino maker.

Nor do I have a wide collection of fabulous coffee beans from around the world...

just my instant coffee from El Paso, Texas

I drink most days out of my jumbo cup

that equals about maybe 2 cups x 2= 4 cups of black coffee, with 2 splendas per cup and hold the dunking!

If you need a refill, I can bet my empty cup you will find a good cup of coffee around the world below.

A Perfect Day...

with perfect weather. We started the day off at my favorite breakfast place, Brunch Cafe.

Afterwards we did a little grocery shopping

Went home to picked up Kelly

so she could enjoy the day. We walked, walked and walked. Kelly was lucky, when she got tired Gary carried her.

We also did a little of this...

It is fun to dream and pretend no matter how old we get.
My wish today for you my friends, may your day...
be as clear and full of sunshine with just the right amount of breeze in the air!

Have a golden day!

Happy Friday: Vintage Treasures

After the wonderful birthday party I wrote about here Gregg, Lisa, Sherry and I stopped off at Alden Valley Antiques in Alden, IL. Bob has the neatest treasures.
This beautiful corner piece is an attribute to Franklin Lloyd Wright. Still under investigation to find out what building it was part of in its day.
The building is the oldest in Alden and was originally a general store.
Gregg purchased a pair of these beauties.
... and I found a basket I have been wanting.
Last Friday I went to an estates sale near by our home and had to call my love to come help me load up my treasures.
This outdoor table is brand new. One of the girls at the sale, owned an outdoor furniture store and was selling the last of her inventory. All this little table needs is some chairs to go around it.

The little baker's box caught my eye and I had to have it! I think it is the coolest thing. OK for something I had to have, now I don't know what I'm going to do with it! For now it is sitting in the kitchen, but I still think it is neat.
I almost fell over when I saw this little pedestal plate, they are hard to come by. My friend Catherine has a beautiful collection of individual pedestal plates and has since started me on my very own. I purchased the two vintage juicers, thinking they would make a great hostess gift with a basket of fresh lemons, limes or oranges. Don't you think?
Memories of the past are treasures of today
Whatever your plans are this weekend make it golden and memorable!

xoxo

P.S. I was playing around with my photo sizes on the bakers box. My little box went from small to large in a click of a finger. LOL...

The Sweet Smell Of Spring

With all the rainy days something good is happening
The lilly of the valleys are coming alive swaying in the breeze...
filling the air with their sweetness.
OK so this isn't a lilly of the valley, but I love how the raindrops hug the new leaves of this hostas plant.
The Lilly of the valley breathing in the humble grass...
William Blake
My dear friends, may your day be filled with the sweetness of spring.
