Corner View: Transportation In Our Town

I think we ate too much breakfast around the world last Wednesday because this week Spain Daily is hosting modes of transportation in our area.

Gary and I like to take walks so this is one of our transportations. He does have two feet, but it was hard bending low behind him in the store parking lot.

I normally don't see too many taxis in our area. I think it was a calling when in the same parking lot was this taxi/cab so I had to take a picture.

A bulldozer make way for another bank in town.

A utility truck was right next to our car. How could I not snap a photo?!

This photo was a drive by of a motor home for sale. A lof of families use these for camping and traveling.

I liked the reflection on the car. I hope one day no one reports me as a silly gal with a camera.

The following day I saw this bike and yelled out the window if I could take a photo of this guy's wheels. It looks like a comfy ride.

In the summer time we have lot of boats and party boats in the area since we are near a lake. It s a lot of fun going with our friends Tracy, Gayle and their families across the lake to grab either lunch or dinner.

When I go into the city (Chicago) I mostly take the train downtown. Once in the city, depending where I'm going I will either walk, take a cab or hop on the el train.

My dream truck posted on the side of my fridge. I think it would be so much fun to drive around in.

I hope you enjoyed the ride today in our transportations around town. If you would like to sit back and be chauffeured around the world,

A Day With Friends

Saturday was the spring open house at The Backdrop.

I have to give my friends a hand or two, they sure know how to throw a party~ even if it was raining cats n’ dogs and thundering outside.

I took over 60 photos, so it was hard to narrow down which photos to post. I am excited to give you a peak of why I LOVE The Backdrop (and my friends).
I spent the day playing with Gregg, Lisa, Kris and Donna (another friend that came out to play) helping a customer or two.
The cooking jars were overflowing with wonderful cookies to taste and purchase.
Along with sparkling lemonade to wet your whistle.
The corners were filled with beautiful ceramic and
... pottery pieces made by artists.

The cupboards were filled to the top

And the walls covered with amazing art

One favorite corner was for the love of your dogs.
Or horse loving friend...
Maybe a gift for the gardener in your life.
I love this art piece! Throughout the day my eyes would always come back to this painting. I don't know much about it, but I love the bright colors and the lace looking frame. Don't you agree?
There was so many vintage pieces from the area and as far as England.
If you didn't have a collection started I'm sure you would have one started before you left the shop.
Oops, this is what happens when your hands are full and you don't ask for help.
Oh we can't forget the queen or the birthday princess that needs an extra crown.
Do you have a favorite local store that you love and feels like home?

Have a golden day!

Happy Friday!

Kelly is so happy it is Friday, I couldn't get her to stand still!
This is a game Kelly and I started years ago.
She runs around the table as I clap my hands jumping up and down saying "pretty girl"
The more I say it the faster she goes. Not too bad for a 14+ year young gal.
Oops she stopped long enough to wish you a golden weekend. Enjoy!
Hugs,
and
Kelly too! xoxo

Wednesday's Corner View: Breakfast

Happy Wednesday! A week has already pasted since our last corner view started by our friend Jane at Spain Daily. This Wednesday's corner view is "breakfast"

Brunch Cafe's french toast
By now if you have been following or stopping by my little blog, you know how much I enjoy breakfast.
Brunch Cafe's corned beef hash & swiss cheese
Maybe because it is the start of a new day, spending it either with my love, friends or family.
Brunch Cafe's south of the border quesadillaWhen I get the time to go out for breakfast on the weekend, my favorite place is Brunch Cafe. Thank you Gregg for not only telling me about Brunch Cafe, but taking me there for my first visit. I have since been back a few times!
Brunch Cafe's french toast
When I don't go out for breakfast or during the week I will either have oatmeal

Or yogurt
I also have a confession- even though breakfast is one of my favorite meals, I don't get to enjoy it all the time. Either I spent too much time blog visiting and run out of time, or I simply get sidetrack.
If I think of it I grab either an apple or a fruit on my way out the door. Or...
head to the nearest drive-thru for a latte with skim.

What did you have for breakfast today?

xoxo
P.S. If you get time- take a peak at some of the other blogs sharing in corner view.

The Color Of Goldfish In My World

While doing a little spring cleaning in my creative corner I came across these photos of a stool I painted a couple of years ago, on short notice for a local charity called "a seat for charity".
The center is a round porcelain tile I painted my "colorful" goldfish and fired. It took 10 fires to get the deep color. The photo washed some of the color out.
A neighbor and his fancy tool made the cut in the stool to lay the tile flat in the stool.
A few brushes strokes to stain the rest of the stool and I was finished.

Oops speaking of finish, I found this pencil drawing behind a rack that needs to be finished!
I hope your day is a day to finish your little projects.
Have a golden day!

Friday: Breakfast

When I don't go out for breakfast with my love or friends, I enjoy making this baby dutchman oven pancake.

Baby Dutchman Pancake
3 eggs
½ cup flour
½ cup milk
5 T butter

Preheat oven 425
Combine eggs, floor and milk. Beat light with egg beater, batter will be lumpy.

Heat butter in 12”cast iron skillet on burner until hot and foamy. Remove from heat and add batter.

Put in oven. Bake 20 minutes or until pancake puffed up and brown. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with powder sugar and serve with jam or sliced fresh strawberries. I even like it simply with warm syrup.

Optional: Another way I make this pancake is adding apples. In a separate bowl I toss the slice apples in sugar and cinnamon and slightly sautee the apples in the same pan where I melt the butter just for a couple of minutes. Right before I add the egg mixture I whisk in some vanilla and pour over the apples.

I hope you have a golden weekend and a fabulous breakfast or two.
Enjoy!
xoxo
