I send my mom flowers to thank her for giving me birth. Thank goodness her favorite flower is a carnation! I started this little tradition when I was a wee young girl I would have never thought some day I would have to fill a vase with 49 carnatons and 1 rose!! This was last year's big birthday. It was funny to see my friend Paula at P.S. Flowers and Balloons gently squeeze all of these flowers in one container. Throughout the years I have given the carnation in the number of my current age and put in one sterling rose (one of my favorites) to add my new age.
Another fun thing on my birthday was actually started by my parents. They call me at the time I was actually born and sing Happy Birthday to me or some years I try to beat them to the call and say "I'm here"!
I have to be honest this year I will have a slight tug in my heart knowing I will only hear my mom sing, but I'm glad I have the memories safely tucked in my heart of all the past birthdays hearing them both sing Happy Birthday.
What special things do you do on your birthday?
I hope you stop by tomorrow for the last of the little "party favor" give-away.
xoxo

I started sending my Mom flowers on my birthday when I turned 21- always thanking her for the number of years...21~27~35...so on.
I think it's lovely thing to remember the Moms on birthdays.
Those pops are so cute- party on!
what sweet birthday traditions....i really don't have any traditions....my b-day is the day before christmas...so was always kinda overlooked....hum, after reading you lovely story i think i shall change that! starting this year!

You are the birthday queen! Love your flower story!
You are the Queen of birthdays - I need to take some lessons. Happy Birthday to you my new friend - you "youngsters" are keeping me young.
I was born on my parents' second anniversary. (When I was little, I'd tell everyone I born on my parents' wedding day. Eventually they straightened me out.) Each year we try to be the first to call the other, me to wish a Happy Anniversary, and them to wish me a Happy Birthday. I have only won a handful of times.
This year, my sister turns 40 (she'd be mortified if she knew I told you that) and one month later (to the day) I will turn 45. And my parents are flying me out so that we can all celebrate together! Gotta love a party!
PS. Thanks for following me!
Joyce,
What beautiful traditions you have. Your Dad will be singing to you on Saturday, only it will be from heaven.
Hugs,
